Tipsy Hill is a garden venue set high on a hill with spectacular views across the McLaren Vale region. This private garden is a maze of cosy spaces with magnificent views providing the ideal setting for your elopement or intimate ceremony. The beautiful terraced gardens wrap around the Mediterranean home, perfectly framing the stunning 360-degree views of the Mt Lofty Ranges.
Planted 20 years ago by the original owner Margaret Burrell and designed by the renowned landscape gardener Pam Hailstone, the property is now owned by Bec Hardy, great-great-great granddaughter of Thomas Hardy – the father of the South Australian wine industry – and the Hardy family’s first female vigneron.
Surrounded by vineyards on all sides, the 2.5 acre garden is one of the most famous private gardens in South Australia. It utilises imaginative plantings with bold blocks of colour, and unlike many, looks beautiful year-round. The labyrinth of smaller gardens linked by winding paths offer an assortment of arches, pillars, stone walls, hedges and a wisteria arbour, providing a choice of spaces for your ceremony and wedding day photography.
You could opt to style this venue any way you like, but we say keep it simple – the views do all the talking!
The Tipsy Hill garden is the perfect backdrop for elopements and intimate weddings accommodating up to 30 people, and if desired can be paired beautifully with a private dining experience offered by Sprout Catering. For larger receptions, they also offer wedding packages at Pertaringa cellar door, only 5 minutes drive away.
If booking a reception, wines from Bec Hardy Wines and Pertaringa are included in your package. The team at Bec Hardy Wines is happy to discuss the option of additional BYO beers and ciders (no spirits).
Tipsy Hill is a lush garden offering couples the picture-perfect space for an intimate and totally private wedding, where the views are second to none.
And what about that quirky name we hear you ask? Well, that’s got some fun arty heritage we’re sure the owners would be glad to share with you over a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon ❤️
