Woodburn Historic Homestead

Set on 42 acres this property is quintessentially Australian and inspires so many creative options.

The long gum lined driveway reveals the historic sandstone homestead circa 1864. Recently renovated, the homestead accommodates up to 10 guests and features a fully equipped country kitchen and beautiful architectural detail including a Belvedere Attic, an underground cellar and wrap around verandas.

The old stables, enclosed and restored with concrete floor, have been repurposed as function space and are suitable for up to 80 guests for a seated reception.  They open out onto a lush green lawn space perfect for a casual lounge space, some delicious pre-reception cocktails, an outdoor dinner under the stars or a clear marquee with feature floral installations. Additional marquee spaces are also available on property with 42 acres to play with your limited only by your imagination.

The beautiful grounds of the property feature a gloriously large 160-year-old Moreton Bay Fig tree, beautiful lawned spaces and intimate garden corners all suitable for ceremonies. The real feature though is the open-air chapel, once a barn the thick sandstone walls provide a warm, intimate and completely unique space for your vows.

Woodburn Historic Homestead is a great venue for those that want the customised handcrafted look and flexibility without the stress. Owner Cindy Westphalen is a highly awarded wedding caterer and brings years of experience to this property something you can see at every corner. Wedding packages include assistance with planning and suppliers, all cutlery, crockery and glassware, and a bunch of other helpful inclusions including an optional three nights accommodation package. Cindy offers a variety of catering packages and allows BYO alcohol ideal for those that want to serve french champagne but can’t bear the retail price points usually associated with it.

Unlike alot of dry hire or BYO venues this one is really well set-up with a large commerical kitchen, modern bathrooms, parking and power to all spaces. This is not only hugely convenient for your planning but is also something that can save you considerable funds.

We look at this property and think fabulous weekend wedding celebration with vintage styling and deep raspberry and pink flowers, guest transfers to nearby Strathalbyn, a long recovery breakfast the following day and photo tours throughout the 42 acres and nearby wineries. ❤
