At first glance, this may look like your ordinary restaurant but step inside the doors at Ekhidna and you’ll find a warm and unique culinary experience awaits.

Ekhidna Wines have just opened their McLaren Vale property bringing with them a strong reputation for their mouth-watering Fleurieu Peninsula cuisine and now with the space to offering weddings.

Conveniently located in the heart of McLaren Vale the view from this property is magnetising and the entire restaurant has been designed to make the most of it. Floor to ceiling glass windows look back across the vines towards the Mount Lofty Ranges which deviantly cut through the skyline.

The lawned space between the vines and the restaurant which capture the view, are well suited to ceremonies and tease you to attempt to frame it with an arbour. The slight slope of the hill lends itself to informal seating options and long rows to maximise the space. At the far end of the lawn is a helipad frequently used for VIP guest arrivals and perhaps even an option for your arrival or a spectacular photo tour.

Pre-reception canapés and refreshments can be enjoyed under the high ceilings of the cellar door, within the native garden, on the lawn or set within the restaurant. Wrapped by the restaurant the large courtyard area’s strong overhead beams scream out for dramatic floral displays, elegant long tables, and lighting arrangements. The modern, yet simple décor and ambience of the internal spaces allow it to be styled in almost any way; build on the natural timbers, accentuate the neutral tones, embellish the outdoors or create vibrant accents.

Seating up to 200 guests comfortably one of the many things that set Ekhidna Wines apart from other venues is their flexibility both in terms of space and menu. Whilst offering the convenience of a full-service venue they don’t have a fixed offering and instead work with you to create a bespoke experience that suits your style. The passionate team will work with you to create a custom menu for your guests and are flexible to most service styles whether you prefer a grazing table, family-style meal service, formal plated menu or substantial canapés.

And the foodie part, well almost all cuisine is made from hand using locally grown produce, much picked directly from their own edible gardens. We’re not just talking a local cut of meat here, almost all herbs are sourced from the garden, sauces, and ingredients made from scratch on site.
