Ondeen

Ondeen is a historic property tucked away in the Adelaide Hills with just the right balance of old bones and new ideas.

Set on a heritage former working farm just five minutes from Hahndorf, the original homestead now houses Ondeen’s chic modern restaurant and boutique wedding venue. Their kitchen, headed up by chef Kane Pollard, leans heavily into local produce – think thoughtful, seasonal food with a focus on provenance.

The name Ondeen means little wave, and according to the owners, is a gentle nod to the ripple that begins with intention and carries through to everything created and shared. We think this is a great way to pay homage to Ondeen’s breathtaking Adelaide Hills (Peramangk) location – sitting pretty on a hill above their spring-fed lake which, provides not only the water for their tables, but also an air of tranquillity.

Inside, the space is giving warmth and character, with lots of little nooks and crannies for casual yet intimate fire-side dining. Then there’s their Rock Room, aptly named after the massive stone bar centrepiece. Beautifully crafted out of local sandstone from nearby Carey Gully, it is a unique gathering point inside their cosy restaurant!

In summer, the building’s vine-covered exterior looks like something out of a European daydream, adding to the venue’s charm and doubling as the perfect backdrop for couples portraits. The garden’s shaded lawns are the perfect location for a ceremony or even as a break-out space for smaller corporate functions.

At the heart of the venue is Ondeen’s spacious Pavilion, which can host up to 175 guests for a cocktail-style event or 110 for a seated reception. The Pavilion is airy, full of natural light and is a versatile space that can be styled to match the vision for your wedding day.

This space flows outside to a large deck that overlooks the valley and lake. This spot is a dream setting for pre-dinners and an acoustic band or DJ, offering a laid-back atmosphere as the sun sets over the Adelaide Hills.
