About

Glen Lea Homestead boasts all of the charm and beauty you could possibly wish for from one the most historic properties in the Adelaide Hills. We’re thrilled beyond words to be officially partnering with the owners to offer this very special property for a limited number of weddings each year.

Located just 10 minutes from Mt Barker and less than 45 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, Glen Lea Homestead is Adelaide Hills royalty, surrounded by rolling hills and country vistas.

The two heroes of this property are the immaculate gardens and the beautifully authentic Old Shearing Shed.

The gardens centre around the beautiful 1880-built homestead whose eves are dripping with vines and make for a picturesque ceremony backdrop. Glen Lea Homestead isn’t about cookie-cutter weddings with only one option, in fact, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice especially when it comes to the ceremony choosing between the homestead gardens, the shaded grove located beside a winter creek, the traditional grass courts or one of the many big paddock gums.

The fully enclosed shearing shed with its century-old timbers milled from ancient red-gums is large enough accommodate a seated reception for 140 guests. With power and basic lighting already in place and ridiculously high ceilings its a space you walk into and instantly envisage the atmosphere of a fun country wedding reception.

If it’s more of a sleek modern reception style you’re after then the traditional grass courts could be the space for a classic open-air reception surrounded by gardens.

The property allows full flexibility in regards to catering and beverages meaning you can handpick your own selection of delicious South Australian wines, roll in a food truck or have the fine dining experience you’ve dreamed of.

A working farm, Glen Lea Homestead’s rolling acreage is a stunning backdrop for photography. Oh, and no need think about accommodation for yourselves and the bridal party the night before, the recently renovated 1950’s Manager’s Cottage sleeps up to six guests and is included in your package.

We honestly could talk about this property for hours, but ultimately you have to see it to really understand why we’re so caught up on this classic Adelaide Hills venue. We warn you though, you’re almost guaranteed to fall in love with it ❤️

Testimonials

I recently had the joy of photographing and filming Mikaela & Adrian’s wedding at Glen Lea Homestead — and what a stunning day it was.

Their reception was held in the Old Shearing Shed, and it was everything a relaxed, country-style celebration should be: warm, inviting, full of energy, and surrounded by the natural beauty of the Adelaide Hills. The homestead gardens made for beautiful portraits, and the venue itself offers so much variety — from big paddock gums and shaded groves to traditional grass courts. It’s one of those rare properties where you feel completely at ease but still have that “wow” factor throughout the day.
