Hazelmere Homestead

Tucked away on 75 acres of rolling Adelaide Hills countryside, Hazelmere Homestead is a private estate with 3 acres solely dedicated to the stunning gardens which surround their magnificent heritage homestead and venue.

Established in the 1800’s, and once included a number of the surrounding Echunga properties, it has been operated as an agricultural and equine property over the years. At one stage it used to be a major venue for equestrian events and activities including carriage driving and cross-country trials!

In the mid 1980’s the former owners identified a unique opportunity – and Hazelmere Homestead was founded as one of the first bespoke wedding venues to open in the Adelaide Hills. However, for the last 12 years it has been used as a private residence. We’re so thrilled that the newly owned family-operated team has now brought this amazing venue back to life, and Hazelmere has once again opened their gates to couples for a welcoming and truly exceptional experience.

As you enter the property, you are greeted by a long driveway bordered by shady 60-year-old oak trees, which leads up to the main homestead. There is an almost whimsical feeling when you reach the majestic homestead, with its meandering path and large timber arbours framing the entry to this beautiful venue.

The original circa 1901 Edwardian style homestead makes a lovely addition amongst the rambling botanical style gardens, which are ideal for ceremonies and pre-dinners, and sits proudly alongside The Pavillion.

Formally a fernery, the Pavillion is an undercover area that has been lovingly and stylishly converted into a boutique events space. This open-plan function space features a bluestone feature wall, shimmering festoon lights, wet bar, and an entire wall of windows and French-style barn doors that open out to the garden. A blend of Hamptons and modern Australian country style give this space its unique character.

To the outside of the Pavillion, the paving extends out into the garden, allowing plenty of space for mingling and pre-dinners, and faces the large grassy area which could be used as a lawn games zone or even for casual cocktail dining on a warm summer night.

At Hazelmere Homestead, couples are spoilt for choice with many scenic photography locations on the property. The spacious gardens feature many tranquil corners to explore. Whether it be the bridge leading over the ponds, down in the private vineyard, amongst the colourful florals of the flower patch or just walking through the picturesque paddocks with a horse or two in the background, or simply the steps of the homestead with its glory vine covered verandah.

The great thing about this place is that you have total flexibility to bring in your own choice of preferred suppliers, including beverage and catering, who will have access to the spacious bar and kitchen facilities on site, or you can opt to utilise their own in-house beverage packages.

Another plus is that their wedding packages can be designed with some great additional inclusions such as round tables and black Bentwood style dining chairs, as well as their in-house florist The Flower Shed. Hazelmere Homestead certainly offers great value all in one location!

Situated just 40 minutes from the CBD in the historic Adelaide Hills town of Echunga, Hazelmere Homestead is also close to the many accommodation options in the pretty hamlet of Hahndorf. And what’s more, they also offer boutique accommodation on site for up to 6 guests as well!
