Morning Star

Morning Star is a charming private property just minutes from Mount Barker in the heart of the Adelaide Hills.

Located in the quiet hills hamlet of Wistow, this unique venue has a wonderful history dating back to the 1840’s when the property was known as the Morning Star Hotel. Originally, it was an important local gathering place for the growing farming community and a rest stop for those en route to the Victorian Goldfields.

Over recent years the property has undergone renovations, bringing the stunning gardens back to life and restoring the stone barn to its former glory.

Morning Star is part of a working farm, surrounded by lush gardens iconic to the Adelaide Hills, and is now being offered as a dry hire wedding venue, with many beautiful spaces for ceremonies, pre-reception gatherings or garden parties.

With several ceremony locations, the Milkers Lawn is the largest, with a majestic big gum tree providing ambient shade for guests. An incredible glory vine and stone barn feature in the backdrop creating a picture-perfect scene. Another beautiful ceremony location is under the Big Oak Tree, perfect for a smaller affair or afternoon cocktails. These spaces are beautiful in their own right, or can be styled with lighting or furniture to add your own person touch.

The Barn is the central feature of the property and is a perfect space for a large formal seated reception or relaxed cocktail function. This space has been lovingly restored by hand using exotically sourced recycled materials, but still retains many original features including original stonework, floorboards and corrugated iron. The fully insulated Barn boasts beautiful high ceilings highlighted by three gorgeous chandeliers, vintage etched glass windows, a free-standing bar, open kitchen and a state-of-the-art Al Forno pizza oven. The kitchen area has extensive bench space and refrigeration, perfect for caterers.

The most recent upgrades include The Cloak Room and accessible bathrooms, which are a welcome addition to The Barn, offering the bridal party a private breakout space to touch up or store personal items before the day’s formalities.
